Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a carburetor, in which arrangement is such that a spool is turned in response to the opening of throttle valve to vary the overlapping area of a fuel supply port formed in said spool and a slit formed in the air intake passage, whereby it is enabled to omit a choke valve and to obtain an optimal air-fuel ratio suited various operational conditions of engine.
CONSTITUTION: When the engine is not started, spool 15 is held at its left-most position by the force of spring 25, so that fuel supply port 30 is entirely exposed in slit 29. During idling operation of engine, on the other hand, a fairly high suction vacuum produced in the intake pipe is acted via passage 27 in vacuum chamber 14, so that spool 15 is moved to the right until its pin 26 comes into abutment with annular plate 23. Therefore, the port 30 and slit 29 provide an optimal overlapping area most suited for idling operation of engine. In this state, if revolutional speed of engine is raised by opening throttle valve 3, spool 15 is turned by means of linkage (17W22). As the result, overlapping area of slit 29 and port 30 is changed so that a required amount of fuel is drawn from float chamber 13 into intake passage 4.
