Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a variable venturi type carburetor, in which arrangement is such that venturi opening caused by the depression of accelerator pedal is limited within a certain angle and suction vacuum is used to open the venturi to an angle greater than said limited angle, whereby it is enabled to draw sufficient amount of fuel during high-load, low speed operation of engine and to supply only a required amount of air during high-speed operation of engine.
CONSTITUTION: When accelerator pedal is depressed for starting engine, lever 10 is turned clockwise by cable 23 and control lever 8 is turned also clockwise by spring 13 connected to the lever 10, so that venturi member 3 is opened about pin 7. In this state, if load acted to the engine is lowered, that is caused, for instance, at the time when running along a downhill, and amount of suction air is increased due to increase in the revolutional speed of engine, vacuum produced at fixed venturi 6 is raised. When the vacuum level exceeds a predetermined value, vacuum-responsive member 14 is attracted to the right against the force of spring 16 so that lever 11 is turned clockwise by means of rod 25. As the result, control lever 8 is turned together with lever and venturi member 3 is opened to its full opening, so that required amount of air can be supplied.
