Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase density of mixture at the time of starting engine and thereby improve engine starting performance of carburetor, by connecting a bleed pipe of starting carburetor and an air inlet pipe of main carburetor by a bleed air passage and disposing a valve, operated in response to the temperature to which engine is warmed up, at an intermediate portion of said bleed air passage.
CONSTITUTION: When starting engine on cold days, shaft 32 and starting lever 39 are turned to the right through expansion of bimetal 31. Resultantly, intermediate lever 35 pushed by push lever 38 is retained by stopper pin 42, so that opening of bleed air valve V is restricted to its extremity. In this state, if engine is cranked with the opening of throttle valve 5 being kept minimum, mixture (a1) is supplied to intake pipe 4 from slow-speed jet 9a of main carburetor 1. At the same time, starter valve 13 is also opened since pressure in upper chamber 16 of starting carburetor 10 becomes negative. In this state, amount of air supplied to bleed pipe 14 is small since opening of valve V is restricted, so that a rich mixture is produced at the portion of needle valve N2 and ejected into intake pipe 4 via passage 12.
