Abstract

PURPOSE: To simply obtain a glass product provided with decorativeness due to distribution of many fine pores by coating a glass substrate with a slurry based on low m.p. glass powder and contg. a foaming substance followed by drying and baking.
CONSTITUTION: A surface of a glass plate is coated with a slurry based on low m.p. glass powder and contg. a viscous foaming thickener such as methyl cellulose. A foaming surfactant may be used in place of the thickener. By the action of the foaming substance in the slurry many bubbles are formed in the coated slurry. By drying this slurry the bubbles are opened to form many fine pores 3 on coated surface 4, thus decorating surface 4 with various patterns. Surface 4 is then baked to form a film, and glass product 5 provided with decorativeness due to pores 3 is obtd. simply.
