Abstract
PURPOSE:To form protective coating of excellent appearance, which has excellent adhesion property, corrosion resistance, and resistance to chemicals, and causes no blooming, by forming tin oxide coating on the silica glass coating on the surface of a metal. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a product of a metal such as Al, Cu, Fe etc., or on the surface of porcelain plated with a metal is applied aq. alkali silicate soln. such as water glass, potassium silicate, lithium silicate. The applied product is dried, and then heated in order to be baked to form a silica glass coating 5mu or under in thickness and excellent in adhesion property. Then it is subjected to dealkalization by dipping it into an aq. soln. of sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, or phosphoric acid etc., or into an aq. soln. of ammonium nitrate, ammonium chloride for a short time. It is further subjected to chemical vapor deposition using tin halide cpd. to form tin oxide coating very excellent in corrosion resistance, resistance to chemicals on the silica glass coating. The coating has excellent appearance, causing no blooming.
