Abstract

PURPOSE: To cause an EPDM rubber composition to contain a specific quantity of a methylene group generating agent thereby to improve further the adhesive property of the composition to the fiber.
CONSTITUTION: B) 0.1W20%, preferably 0.5W5% by weight of a methylene group generating agent (preferably, hexamethoxy methyl melamins) is contained in A) 100% by weight of an EPDM rubber which is a copolymer of ethylene propylene dienes thereby to prepare an EPDM rubber composition. On the other hand, the fiber of polyethylene terephthalate is treated with an RFL solution, for example, at pH 8.5W13, at 150W270°C for 0.5W5 minutes, and then it is subjected to baking. The thus obtained fiber is heated and bridged, for example, at 130W195°C for 5W 120min as a reinforcement for the above mentioned EPDM rubber composition, thus the fiber being integrally bonded to the EPDM rubber composition.
