Abstract

PURPOSE: Fibers of thermoplastic polymer containing a compound capable of condensing with formaldehyde is incorporated with a compound generating methylene groups, thus increasing the adhesion between rubber and the fibers to reinforce tires or other products.
CONSTITUTION: Said composition contains (a) fibers of a thermoplastic polymer containing compounds condensing with formaldehyde and (b) a reagent generating methylene groups, in which the amount of the compound is 0.1W10 parts by wt per 100 parts of the fibers and 0.1W10 parts of the methylene-generating reagent, per 100 parts of the above rubber. The fibers are made by melt spinning, such as polyamide fibers, and the compound condensing with formaldehyde is, e.g., resorcin or melamine. The rubber composition is, e.g., made from natural or synthetic rubber and a variety of additives. The methylene generator is, e.g., formaldehyde.
