Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain porous electrode featuring a high catalyst activity and excellent combining intensity, which is thus suited to the sensor of the automobile exhaust gas by appying the noble metal inorganic salt aqueous solution to the solid electrolyte base with drying to be then given the hydrogen reduction and then giving the electroplating with the deposited noble metal used as the cathode with the high- temperature burning.
CONSTITUTION: The aqueous solution of the noble metal inorganic salt such as the platinum acid chloride is applied to the electrode forming part of the solid electrolyte like the zirconium oxide sintered material which is stabilized by the yttrium oxide and then dried. After this, the reduction is given under the hydrogen current and at a comparatively low temperature of about 300°C to deposit the noble metal. This deposited noble metal is used as the cathode to carry out the electroplating, and thus the noble metal electrode after burning at a high temperature of about 1000°C. The electroplating can also be given after the high-temperature burning is given previously to the hydrogen reduction film. And if the high-temperature burning is given with application of the inorganic coating material such as ZrO2, Al2O3, etc. after the electroplating, the electrode can be prevented from being harmed by the exhaust gas of the automobile.
