Abstract

PURPOSE: To form sheathing sulkhead safely and economically without noise and vibration prior to excavation in such a way that guide steel piles aligned to original steel sheet piles at both sides of discontinuous location are driven so as to fit with original piles, and then leading steel plate for sheathing is pressure driven along the guide piles while high pressure jet wter or backing agent is sprayed thereto.
CONSTITUTION: After ascertaining location of buried underground body, guide steel sheet piles 5, 5' with guide member 5a mounted on both sides thereby are aligned to existing steel sheet pile 2 located at both sides of the furied body, and are driven so as to be fitted to the existing pile 2. Reaction girder 6 for eliminating reaction force at the time of driving stiffening steel plate is secured to sheet piles 2, 5, and 5' with bolts and nuts, and then a pair of hydraulic jacks 7 are mounted to the girder 6. Leading steel plate 3 inserted between guide members 5a to serve as first stiffener is pressed down by jacks 7. Second, third stiffeners 4, 4' and so on are similarly pressed in sequence after their engaging portions 4-1 are aligned to each other. When steel plates 3, 4 are pressed down in sequence to form stiffening bulkhead, high pressure water is sprayed from nozzle 11 fixed to leading plate 3, or else, any backing agent is sprayed from nozzle 12 fixed to second stiffener 4.
