Abstract
PURPOSE:The coating chip of superior abrasion resistance which is obtained by coating Hf compounds such as HfC, HfN, etc. and Ti compounds such as TiC, TiN, etc. on the surface of super hard alloy. CONSTITUTION:The super hard sintered alloy comprising sintering WC being a hard material by Co being a binder is used as a chip base material and HfC or HfN which is approximate in the coefficient of thermal expansion to the chip base material and is higher in high temperature hardness is coated on the surface of said material. Further on this is coated a hard compound such as TiC or TiN of superior abrasion resistance. These coating materials are both superior in high temperature hardness and chemical stability at high temperatures, are approximate in the coefficient of thermal expansion to the super hard sintered alloy being a base material and do not cause peeling owing to temperature change. In addition, they have superior abrasion resistance against flank abrasion and crater abrasion.
