Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve handling and improve the yield of recarburizers by charging the recarburizers having been clad with steel plate materials or the ones comprising packing the same in steel material cases and press-molding the cases into the furnace.
CONSTITUTION: One or more kinds of artificial graphite, natural graphite, petroleum-base coke, coal-base coke, breeze, anchracite coal and silicon carbide are clad with steel plate materials or packed in steel material cases and these are then press- molded to suitable sizes. These are attracted to electromagnetic magnets and are charged into the furnace. With this method, they fall together with scraps into the hearth and are absorbed into molten steel without being subjected directly to an oxygen atmosphere even in oxygen-enriched operation. Further the recarburizing agents are kept clad up to the teperature range suited for the absorbing conditions of carbon and therefore recarburizing efficiency and the quality of steel are improved.
