Abstract

PURPOSE: To volatilize an insecticide stably, and to maintain its effect for a long time without causing clogging the wick material in heating, by using a combination of the material having a specific oil absorption rate and a specific insecticide liquid.
CONSTITUTION: A ceramic porous wick or a wick having an oil absorption rate of 30min or more but less than 40hr, made by binding glass fibers with gypsum and drying them, is partly immersed in an insecticide liquid comprising an aliphatic hydrocarbon boiling at 180W300°C and 1W10wt% of dl-3-allyl-2-methylcyclopent-2-en-4-on-1-yl dl-cis/trans-chrysanthenate (commonly known as Allethrin, trade name Pynamin) or its isoner to absorb the liquid. The upper side part of the wick is indirectly heated at 130W140°C to volatilize the liquid for destroying insects.
