Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize detection for the deterioration due to the minute defect, the water absorption of the anticorrosive layer and other factors by mrasuring the tan δ of the cable anticorrosive layer by means of the high frequency power source.
CONSTITUTION: The system comprises cable covering layer 1, coil L2 which is connected to layer 1 at one end with the other end earthed, dielectric loss tangent measuring instrument 4 containing the terminal which connects the non-grounded side of L2, and high frequency power source 5 which is applied to the high voltage side of instrument 4 respectively. As shown by the dotted line in the diagram, it is supposed to form a parallel circuit equivalently with equivalent electrostatic capacity CX and equivalent resistance RX between layer 1 and the ground. In this connection, if the balance of instrument 4 is secured for power source 5, the virtual dielectric loss tangent tanδ' and the true value tanδ to be measured are expressed as shown in the equation. In this case, angle frequency ω and inductance L are already obtained, and capacity CX can be measured. Thus genuine tanδ can be calculated.
