Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb securely the axial thermal contraction difference between a torque tube and an electromagnetic damper by fitting one side of the torque tube to the shaft axially.
CONSTITUTION: One end 4' of a torque tube 4 a superconductive field coil 1 is built in is connected with a fitting part 5a of a shaft 5 joined to an electric damper 3 through axial fitting, that is, through slide mechanism. The axial connection between the end 4' of the torque tube and the fitting part 5a is carried out, for example, by keys 7, pins if necessary. In this way, not only the axial thermal contraction difference between the torque tube 4' and the electromagnetic damper 3 can be absorbed securely by a simple structure but a strong axial rigidity can be given to the connecting part.
