Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat-producing composition that is made by adding an alkali substance to a heat-producing composition mainly composed of a metal powder, reaction accelerator and water, thus controlling the amount of hydrogen evolving during stored and showing high duration of heat production.
CONSTITUTION: To a heat-producing composition consisting of a metal powder as iron, zinc, aluminum, etc., a reaction accelerator as potassium chloride, sodium sulfate, and water, is added an alkaline substance selected from hydroxides, carbonates, bicarbonated bisulfites, thiosulfates, tertiary phosphates, polyphosphates and organic acid salts of alkali and alkaline earth metals in an amount of 0.02W1, preferably 0.05W0.5 normal on the basis of the water in the composition.
