Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately measure toner concentration by controlling an amount of developer moved by a magnetic roller for taking out to a predetermined amount using a flow control plate provided in a detection vessel. CONSTITUTION:Developer 1 in detection vessel 7 is taken out with magnetic roller 8 by controlling its flow rate to a proper value with flow rate control plate 7 provided nearly in the center of the lower opening of vessel 7 and in position B of the lower opening. The flow rate of developer 1 flowing under the lower end of plate 9 is arranged to become nearly half that flowing through position B. Accordingly, each flow rate through both routes on both sides plate 9, namely, the routes on both sides of detection coil 6 becomes similar to each other, and developer 1 in vessel 7 flows at a constant rate uniformly without stagnation, thus permitting toner concentration to be accurately measured.
