Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable corrugating to be done extremely readily by letting at least one of rotary dies out of the rotary die groups of a straight wire machine be a rotary die having the specified contact length.
CONSTITUTION: A corrugated steel material 1 is corrugated to the spiral form of the width H and pitch L of waves. To perform this corrugating, 2a being one of the rotary dies 2 and 2a disposed at a fixed spacing in the axial direction in a rotary cylinder 3 in which the steel material 1 travels is so constituted that its contact length is made shorter than the length at which the steel material 1 advances during its one rotation. This constitution causes the steel material 1 to be supported by the rotary dies 2, 2 on both sides and to be bent by receiving concentrated load by the rotary die 2a in the central part, whereby the wire material is corrugated with the specified spiral form wave and is straightened overall.
