Abstract

PURPOSE:To let the 2 equivalent couplers being colorless have high reactivity and hardly exhibit color stains and let the resultant yellow dye be superior in durability to light, moisture and heat by using the specific alpha-substituted acetamide compound. CONSTITUTION:The acetamide compound substituted of alpha-position by the groups of formulas I and II (R1, R2 are H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, carboxyl; or R2 may be removed and R1 double bound with C to which R1 is bound and R1 may be benzylidene; R3 is aromatic groups, heterocyclic groups), e.g., the compounds such as of formulas III, IV are used as the active site substitution type photographic yellow couplers. The compounds do not have unnecessary absorption in long wavelength part, have less absorption in green light region, exhibit sharp absorption and have hues desirable in color reproduction.
