Abstract

PURPOSE: To lower the starting voltage and to improve the flux maintaining rate, by employing the cross section of electrode core for specific steady state lamp current while containing specific amount of thorium oxcide.
CONSTITUTION: Main electrode 3 is containing 0.1W3.0wt% of throrium oxcide while comprised of tungsten electrode core 9 having 0.1W3.0mm2/A of corss-section for steady state lamp current and tungsten coil 10 mounted on said electrode core 9 and having 0.2W2.0wt ratio against the core. Consequently thorium oxcide contained in the electrode core 9 is stable in metal halide vacuum in the light emitting tube thereby starting voltage is lowered, while spattering of tungsten is reduced resulting in the improvement of flux maintaining rate.
