Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a tape recorder to operate in a complex mode where even a large unit is incapable, and also to miniaturize the tape recorder by providing its control circuit to an external unit.
CONSTITUTION: As an external unit to be connected to tape recorder 1, study unit 34, for example, is connected to terminals 25BW25D of recorder 1. Unit 34 is provided with microcomputer 35, keyboard 36, display part 37, and interface 38. In this case, an analog sound signal is recorded on a track corresponding to 1st channel 20A of a magnetic tape, and a digital signal equivalent to a control signal on that corresponding to 2nd channel 20B. In reproduction of a study tape, an analog signal for questions is reproduced from speaker 22 by way of head 20A and main amplifier 27A. At the same time, a digital signal from head 20B is outputted to unit 34 through main amplifier 27B and a control signal based upon answers is inputted from unit 34, thereby driving recorder 1.
