Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress an error interval due to a drop-out phenomenon to a minimum by alternating a read output signal, obtained by one magnetic head, with that by the other through a delay circuit when the level of the former decreases below a fixed value. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic head 2 scans the same track lagging magnetic head 1. Now, if a drop-out phenomenon is caused and a read output signal from head 1 decreases in level below a fixed value, an output from amplification sense circuit 6 operates signal change-over circuit 7 to connect the input to the side of head 2 by switching. A read output signal from head 2 is passed through signal delay circuit 5 for an adjustment to the same phase as the output signal from head 1. Namely, the output of variable frequency oscillation circuit 8 maintains the same oscillation frequency as a frequency before the occurrence of the drop-out. The correct demodulation of a magnetic recording signal can therefore be secured by demodulation circuit 9 synchronizing with the output from head 1.
