Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically set bias current by mixing and recording the signal frequencies of two oscillators, frequency-dividing the reproduction output thereof with filters then comparing the same with a comparator thereby controlling a bias oscillator.
CONSTITUTION: Signal frequencies of oscillators 11, 12 are mixed in a mixer 9 and are supplied to a recording head 10, by which they are recorded in a magnetic tape 7. On the other hand, a playback head 13 reproduces the signals having been recorded, the frequency components whereof are then divided by band-pass filters 15, 16 and the outputs thereof are supplied to a comparator 17 which generates its output so as to control a bias oscillator 18 when the respective input levels, etc. are not equal. Hence, when the output of the comparator 17 becomes zero, the output of the bias oscillator 18 stops and optimum bias setting may be performed automatically in order to maintain the bias current thereof. In addition, recording may be performed by automatically rewinding the tape after the bias setting.
