Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover energy, and at the same time, to effect the waste disposal, recovery of valuable components, and prevention of environmental pollution, by separating the solid municipal wastes into organic components and inorganic components, heat-decomposing the organic components to oils, gases, and carbonaceous materials, separating the garbage from the inorganic components, and subjecting the garbage to the methane fermentation.
CONSTITUTION: Solid municipal wastes are roughly crushed with a pretreating device 2, and iron, etc. are removed therefrom. The treated wastes are separated into organic components and inorganic components by a dry separator 4. The organic components are finely crushed with a crusher 6, and dried in a drier 7. The inorganic components composed mainly of garbage, is sent to a wet separator 9 to separate the garbage, which is subjected to the methane fermentation in a fermentor 11. The residual part of the inorganic components is discharged by a conveyor 12. The exhaust gas from the drier 7 is deodorized by a deodorizer 17. The waste from the drier 7 is decomposed in a furnace 20, and the carbonaceous material is recovered. The oil-containing gas from the furnace 20 is passed through a cyclone dust collector to recover valuable dust, and the oil is recovered by the first and the second scrubbers, 26 and 27. The gas is passed through a mist separator 18, and burnt with ill-smelling air generated from the disposal plant in a waste-heat recovery furnace 13, to recover the thermal energy.
