Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise greatly the recovery rate of tungstic acid catalyst as compared with the conventional methods by filtering through membrane the reaction mixture obtained from the oxidation of an organic compound over a tungstic acid catalyst with H2O2 under a condition of a low-active oxygen concentration and an acidity.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction mixture obtained from the oxidation of an organic compound having ethylenic unsaturated bonds over a tungstic acid catalyst with H2O2, in which colloidal tungstic acid catalyst is dispersed, is filtered by a membrane method to concentrated into a slurry containing 5W30% tungstic acid catalyst by lessening the amount of soluble tungstic acid catalyst under a condition of an acidity and a low-active oxygen concentration without the necessity for a filtering layer. The slurry so recovered is reused by recycling to the reaction system, and thus more than 98% recovery of the catalyst is possible by a simplified method without the complicated processes as employed in the conventional methods.
