Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure the quick and accurate measurement for a large amount of samples by ensuring the shift and supply of the samples to each measuring instrument via the empty weight of the sample when various types of physical properties are measured for the cigarette or the cigarette filter.
CONSTITUTION: Measuring instruments 2, 3, 4 and 5 are distributed in series along the longer shift direction of the sample. The samples within hopper 1 are dropped one by one onto catch pan 2a of weight measuring instrument 2. The samples with which the weight measurement is over are put into funnel-shaped guide 7 to be dropped into diameter measuring instrument 3, and the sample after the diameter measurement are dropped by their empty weight into ventilation resistance measuring instrument 4. When the ventilation resistance measurement is over, instrument 4 itself turns by 180 centering round axle 4b. And the samples drop down through funnel-shaped guide 9 by their empty weight to reach length and hardness measuring instrument 5 for measurement of both the length and hardness, thus completing all measurement. The measuring actions are given simultaneously with every of instruments 2, 3, 4 and 5, and each sample flows automatically from instrument 2 through 5 in sequence.
