Abstract

PURPOSE: To rapidly select the kind and amount of the hardening agent to be added, suitable for the room temperature and the sand temperature, without mixing the resin and the hardening agent into the casting sand, at the hardening test for the organic self hardening type casting sand, by measuring the time of hardening reaction between the resin and the hardening agent.
CONSTITUTION: The equipment for hardening test, the resin, and the hardening agent are kept at the temperature of the blended sand; and about 5cc of the resin 4 to be blended is prepared in the container 2. The hardening agent 6, whose amount being measured so as to fit to the specified blending ratio against the blended sand, is prepared in the measuring cup 5. The resin 4 in the container 2 is stirred with the stirring bar 3; under this condition, the hardening agent 6 in the cup 5 is mixed into the resin 4, and the time of hardening reaction between two is measured. The result of measurement is corresponded to the reaction condition to make optimum the strength of aged hardness, and the bench at hardening of the blended sand; hereby, the optimum hardening time zone, fitting to the acid consumption or the soluble soda content of the casting sand, is set. According to this method, the judgement for optimum blending ratio of the hardening agent can be rapidly finished.
