Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the light transmitting distance by a light output control system by connecting the light outputs from two semiconductor laser transmitters via a light coupler to transmit them by monitoring the consolidated light output to impart negative feedback to the laser drive current to thereby maintain the light output constant. CONSTITUTION:A light transmitter consists of two semiconductor laser transmitters 1 and 2, and the outputs therefrom are coupled by a light coupler 3 to one. Then, the light output from the coupler 3 is fed by an optical fiber 4 to a light receiver provided separately. In this configuration, the general light input to the fiber 4 is monitored by a monitor circuit 5 to control negative feedback of the drive current to the transmitters 1 and 2 so that the consalidated light input becomes always constant. Thus, when one transmitter does not feed normal light output, other transmitter receives larger drive current to thereby reduce no light output as a whole but to increase the light transmitting distance. When it is remarkably malfunctioned, it generates an alarm to replace only the faulted light transmitter for new one.
