Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish the satisfactory mode rejection by selecting at least two anti-modes, which are not in symmetric positions with respect to the center of a cylinder, and by adding and subtracting the respective signals corresponding to the vibrations at the anti-nodes.
CONSTITUTION: A driving piezoelectric element 4 is attached to the portion which constitutes the anti-node when the cylindrical vibrator body 1 is in the quarternary vibration mode. The piezoelectric elements 2 and 3 for detecting the vibrations of the same characteristics are attached to the other anti-nodes of the quarternary vibration mode such that they are not in the symmetric positions with respect to the center of the cylinder. The axial attachment positions of the elements 2W4 are located at the nodes in the direction of the vibrations of the body 1. The outputs of the elements 2 and 3 are added to obtain the vibrating output voltage. Then, the odd and secondary bibration modes are weakened so that interface vibration mode can easily select the quarternary signals. On the other hand, if the outputs of the elements 2 and 3 are subtracted, the rejection of the odd and quarternary vibration modes can be performed so that only the signals of the secondary vibration mode can be easily generated.
