Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to attain accurate muting operation in an AM-FM receiver by generating several muting signals corresponding to a received signal. CONSTITUTION:A generator is provided with noise detection circuit 1 which generates a noise detection signal when a detected noise is higher in level than a fixed value, carrier level detection circuit 2 which generates a level decrease detection signal when a detected signal level is below a prescribed level, circuit 4 which generates a 1st muting signal for a certain period when either one of a noise detection signal and level decrease detection signal received is generated, and circuit 6 which generates a 2nd muting signal for a certain period on detecting switching operation of a change-over switch. Then, the 1st muting signal is applied to muting control circuit 5 via muting operation selection switch SW1 and 2nd muting signal is applied directly.
