Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure a high-precision detection for the distance to the subject with a simple constitution by arraying plural units of lenses through which the images of the subjects can be formed at the different points on the optical axis within the viewfield and at each reception position and then comparing the output of the photo detectors with each other.
CONSTITUTION: Lensens 11aW11d featuring the same focal distance are arrayed on the same plane, and at the same time photo detectors 12aW12d are distributed in opposition to each lens and with different distances between them. In this case, the image forming position of the luminous flux entering each lens differs according to the position of the subject. Thus the distance to the subject can be detected with a high precision based on the distance between the photo detector and its corresponding lens. When the above fact is applied to the camera, the in-focus shooting is possible for the subject by shifting the photographing lens toward its optical axis according to the detection of the photo detector.
