Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably manufacture the nondirectional silicon steel sheet excellent in the magnetic characteristic, by hot rolling the silicon steel slab of special composition including B and diminished Al, and by annealing the slab through the cold rolling more than twice including the intermediate annealing pass. CONSTITUTION:The hot rolling is applied to the steel slab composed of C<=0.015 %, Si 2.0-3.5%, Al<=0.10%, O<=0.010%, B/Ni 0.50-2.50%, and the balance consisting of iron and inevitable impurities. This hot rolled slab is formed into the final dimension by one pass of the cold rolling or more than twice of cold rollings including the intermediate annealing pass. Next, the annealing is again applied to the slab. According to this steel composition and the rolling method, the nondirectional silicon steel sheet which possesses the magnetic characteristic better than the material made by spending large amount of expensive Al and suffers little deterioration of the iron loss owing to the temperature rise caused in heating for the hot rolling, can be manufactured.
