Abstract
PURPOSE: To make automatic controlling of filling weights of powder and achieve higher efficiency of work by detecting the position of an upper punch immediate after pressure compression of powder and adjusting the volume of a cavity.
CONSTITUTION: A lower punch 2 is fitted to the die 14 of a specified shape and powder is filled in the cavity 15 formed by the die 14 and lower punch 2. This powder is then compression-molded under approximately constant pressure by an upper punch 23. Here, while the green compact is being held in place by the upper punch 23 and lower punch 2 after the former has compressed the powder, the position of the upper punch 23 is electrically detected 27 and the deviation quantity of said position from the predetermined reference position is electrically measured. By the electric signal corresponding to the results of that measurement, a motor 10 is driven to displace either of the die 14 or lower punch 2, whereby the depth of the cavity 15 is adjusted.
