Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to accomplish the tests simply and accurately by grasping a cylindrical test piece at the center of a pressure plate so that the repeated tensile and compressive loads are exerted upon the test piece.
CONSTITUTION: A test piece 1 is screwed into a lower pressure plate 8b of a tensile jig 8 and fixed to a lock nut 9 so that it is fixedly fastened to a fastening nut 7. In accordance with the detected value of a distorsion detecting element which is mounted on the test piece 1, the initial tensile load can be set easily and accurately. A compression applying member 13 applies the repeated compression stress, which is to be transmitted to a wire 6 and which comes from the vertical movements of the piston rod 15 of an actuator 14, to the test piece 1 together with the jig 8. A load cell 16 detects the compression load so that the detected signals are transmitted to a tester control system.
