Abstract
PURPOSE: To suppress the effect of produced gas and perform pickling evenly by closing one end of a metal pipe such as of Zr alloy pipe used for coated pipe for nuclear fuel, filling pickling solution therein, yet obliquely holding the metal pipe at the specified angle and subjecting the same to pickling by a static method at the time of performing pickling activating of the inside surface of said metal pipe.
CONSTITUTION: As pretreatment at the electroplating of the inside surface of a metal pipe such as Zr alloy pipe used for coated pipe for nuclear fuel, the inside surface of the pipe is subjected to pickling and activating by the following. Namely, one end of the metal pipe is closed and the pickling solution of NH4F 0.2W1.5 mole, HF 0.05W0.5 mole and NH4F/HF=1.2W15 (molar ratio) is filled in the pipe. Thence, the metal pipe is obliquely held at 5W60° and is subjected to pickling and acvivating treatment by a static method. With this method, acids are not circulated and therefore turbulence caused based on the flow does not occur, and the inside surface of the pipe may be pickled evenly, hence the metal layer of high adhesiveness may be formed by electroplating.
