Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a metal surface treating composite which improves adherability of the coated film to the metal surface after degreasing and corrosion resistance after application, by addn. of specific quantities of silica, PO4 -3, and water soluble anionic resin having an acid value not less than 400 to water.
CONSTITUTION: A highly dispersible silica is dispersed in water at a ratio of the silica to water of 5W200g/l in colloidal state. To the dispersion are added 1W50g/l PO4-3 in the form of orthophosphoric acid or of light metal or heavy metal salts of orthophosphoric acid, and 0.5W500g/l water soluble anionic resin such as a copolymer of polyacrylic acid and vinyl maleic acid, which is water soluble when it is not neutralized and has an acid value not smaller than 400, then the mixt. is adjusted at a pH 1W5 to provide a composite.
USE: The composite is used in place of phosphate, chromate for the purpose of improving adherability of a metal surface to the coated film after degreasing, and corrosion resistance after coating.
