Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the sand of good quality from the dirty sand, by employing the cyclone in order to utilize the mutual collision of sand granules, the rolling frictiin, and the centrifugal separation effect, for the purpose of peeling off the sticking substances and of separation of impurities, and by washing above separated sand granules within the rotary drum.
CONSTITUTION: The sedimentary sands S together with water are pumped up from the settling pond 1 by the sand pump 2 and are pushed into the cyclone 3 in its tangential direction (31). The suspension water including sands and organic substances, etc., are whirled along the inner wall of the cylindrical part; hereby, the sticking substances are peeled off from the sands, and the sand granules are separated from the mass of suspension liquor including the light weight organic substances, etc., owing to the centrifugal force. This suspension liquor is discharged from the central riser tube 34 and is returned to the pond 1 after being freed from the scum 4. Meantime, the sand granules accumulated on the inner wall of the cylindrical part 2 go down along the conical part 33 and are sent to the rotary drum 5 whose charging side is slightly lowered than another end. Next, the sand granules in the drum 5 are successively sent forward by the helical ribbon 51, and are lifted up by the scraper blade 52 installed radially at the discharge end, and are dropped on to the takeout chute 53. Hereupon, the washing water is introduced from the washing water feed pipe 54 into the rotary drum 5 and the waste water is overflown 56 from the sand charging side.
