Abstract
PURPOSE: To exclude the mechanically driven part from the bottom of sedimentation tank, and to smoothly discharge the sludge, by partitioning the bottom of the sedimentation tank with the inclinatory motion of the inclined plate arranged at the lowest stage, and by sweeping this partitioned room with the water current caused by the draining of water.
CONSTITUTION: The required quantity of water is filled up in the sedimentation tank 2 provided with many inclined plates 1 at multistage style for causing the sedimentation of the sludge; and the sludge being charged into the sedimentation tank 2 is settled gravitationally. This settling sludge falls down along the multistage inclined plates 1; when the amount of the sedimentary sludge on the bottom of the tank 2 becomes the specified amount, the lowest plate 3 is inclinatorily moved so as to partition the bottom zone of the tank 2 into upper and lower rooms cooperating with the adjoining plates 3; hereby, the partitioned room R1 is formed between the plate 3 and the tank bottom 2a. Hereupon, the room R1 and the room R2 above the plate 3 are communicated by the open passage W arranged on one end of the tank 2. Next, the sludge is sucked and discharged by operating the pump P or the valve V through the sludge pool 4 installed on another end of the bottom of the tank 2. As a result, the sedimentary sludge existing in the room R1 is discharged together with the water of the room R1 working as the sweeping current.
