Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the reliable fixing method which permits fixing in a short time by fixing the optical fibers having thermoplasticity on the outermost layer to the fixing members having concave fixing parts through thermoplastic deformation. CONSTITUTION:After fixing members 1, 2 are sufficiently heated individually, an optical fiber 4 is inseted between the fixing members 1, 2 and is compression bonded, thence the fixing members 1,2 are cooled. Then the outermost layer 3 is softened by the heat of the fixing members and since the outside diameter of the outermost layer 3 is larger than the diameter of the space of the fixing members 1, 2, it causes thermoplastic deformation and the surplus portions flow into concave fixing portions 5. The concave fixing portions 5 are beforehand made so as to leave spacings 6. In this way, the mis-alignment of the optical fiber 4 may be prevented and the rotation and pull-out of the optical fiber 4 prevented.
