Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I (R is H, methyl).
EXAMPLE: L-2-(3,5-dichlorophenyl) perhydropyrrolo [1,2-c] imidazole-1,3,5- trione.
USE: Effective ingredients for agriculture and forticulture antibacterial agents, especially they are effective against gray mold and stem rot of vegetables, being substantially harmless and low toxicity to man, domestic animals, and fishes.
PREPARATION: The reaction between glutamic or α-methylglutamic acid of formula II and 3,5-dichlorophenylisocyanate of formula III is conducted in the presence of an alkali as sodium hydroxide in a solvent mix of organic solvent as benzene and water, then the reaction mixture is neutralized with an acid as hydrochloric acid to give the compound of formula IV. The cyclization of the product is effected by dehydration to form a compound of formula V, which is heated with thionyl chloride in an organic solvent as benzene to give the compound of formula I.
