Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An 1-(N, N-dimethylsulfamyl)-4,5-dicyanoimidazole of formula I:
USE: Agricultural and horiticultural fungicides, particularly effective for late blight of tomatoes and cucumbers, having a control effect equal to or better than the commercially available drugs.
PROCESS: 4,5-Dicyanoimidazole of formula II is condensed with an N,N-dimethylsulfamyl chloride of formula III in the presence of a dehydrochlorinating agent, e.g. potassium carbonate, to give an 1-(N,N-dimethylsulfamyl)-4,5-dicyanoimidazole of formula I.
