Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform power generation untilizing effectively the energy possessed by flowing river water by the procesure in which water dams are provided alternately on both river banks along river valley and water wheel for power generation is rotated by the water collected in the dams.
CONSTITUTION: A desired length of the water draining dam 2 is constructed in almost parallel with the bank 1a of river, the water collecting dam 3 is constructed at the end of the upstream side of the water draining dam 2, and the water wheel 5 is installed in such a way that it interrupts the water path 4 formed by the water draining dam 2 and the river bank 1a. The water wheel 5 consists of the water wheel drum 5a having a desired diameter and length and a number of the locking blades 5b provided through the shaft 5c to the periphery of the drum 5a in a freely lockable manner, and the rotary shaft is connected to the generator 6 through a power transmission mechanism. Also, the water storage dam 7 with the partially movable portion 7a is provided, by which the flow rate of the flowing river water is controlled to a desired one by storage of water temporarily.
