Abstract
PURPOSE: To make readily possible drawing of the wire material compose of brittle material by applying axial pulling force to the wire material from the feed side of the plural dies disposed in the drawing direction and applying their axial compressive force to the wire material from the respective die inlet side.
CONSTITUTION: A wire material 1 is pushed into a die 4 by a pusher 2 and is given compressive force in its axial direction. At the same time, it is subjected to plastic deformation in the die 4 by the pulling force added by a puller 3, whereby sectional reduction is applied. Next, it goes through a capstan 5 and is subjected to sectional reduction by dies 4', 4", etc. in the similar manner as above subsequently as much as required times. In pushing, buckling is prevented by the guiedes 6, 6', 6" between the dies and pushers and the pushers and pullers are held of their dispositions by the grips fixed to a pair of endless chains or belts disposed opposedly in the drawing directions, whereby the pulling forces and compressive forces are applied simultaneously. In this way, the rate of sectional reduction in one pass is increased and the fabrication of the wire material of brittle material becomes easy because the pulling forces are lower.
