Abstract

PURPOSE: To adhere a cured rubber sheet to a synthetic resin-impregnated laminate substrate under heat and pressure by use of a cured rubber sheet whose surface has been roughened by irradiation of electron rays.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a cured rubber sheet is roughened by irradiation of electron rays at about 300 to 2000 kV, the irradiation amount may preferably be about 5 to 10 megarad/cm2 for such rubbers as natural rubber, nitrile rubber, and butadiene rubber, and about 13 to 20 megarad for butyl rubber and ethylenepropyrene terpolymer rubber. The thus-treated rubber sheet is laminated onto a synthetic resin-impregrated laminate substrate, and the laminate is heated and applied with pressure to harden the substrate and adhere the both components together. An adhesive may be applied between the substrate and the rubber sheet if prefered.
