Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the reduction in electrolytic voltage and prevention of hydrogen generation by applying the porous electrode comprising holding the catalyst capable of oxidizing and regenerating quinones in the electrolytic bath to cathode.

When the p-chloranil becomes of hydroquinone type through reduction, the oxygen in the air subsequently diffuses through the polytetrafluoroethylene film 4 and the hydroquinone is regenerated to p-chloranil.
