Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent entangling of cleaning blade, by reversely rotating the photosensitive drum at the time of idling before copying action, and releasing fixing of the remaining developer between drum and cleaning blade, in an ordinary paper electrostatic copier of liquid developing system.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of copying action, a photosensitive drum 1 rotates in the direction of arrow, and the original is projected from an optical system window 3 to form a latent image, which is developed by a developing unit 4 and transferred on an ordinary paper 9 by means of a transfer device 6. Static electricity is removed by a destaticizing electrode 15, and the developer is squeezed in a cleaning roll 16, and is scraped off by means of a cleaning blade 17. When a copy start button is pressed, an electromagnetic clutch is actuated by a timer, and the photosensitive drum is rotated in the clockwise direction, reverse to the direction of the arrow, for several seconds. When the developer is firmly deposited on the cleaning blade 17, the blade 17 is pulled to the right side, attempting to rotate counterclockwise around shaft 18, so that a corner 17a of the blade is separated from the drum. Therefore, the blade 17 may not get entangled. After rotating reversely for several seconds, the drum is rotated in the normal direction to make copy.
