Abstract
PURPOSE: To run an induction machine in extended-side delta-connection in succession to delta-connection, by alternately connect the poles of the induction machine to each other to balance the magnetomotive forces to each other and only changing the number of turns and wire size of extended parts.
CONSTITUTION: The induction machine is set either in delta-connection or in extended-side delta-connection without altering the number of parallel circuits. Equally-bisecting terminals X2, Y2, Z2, are provided on the phase windings of the induction machine. The numbers of turns of extended winding parts U-X2, V-Y2, W-Z2 for the extended-side delta-connection are made smaller than those of delta- connected winding parts X2-X1, Y2-Y1, Z2-Z1 so that the former numbers are not less than about √1/3 time of the latters. However, the wire size of the extended winding parts is made larger than that of the delta-connected winding parts so that the former wire size is not more than about √3 times of the latters. As a result, the extended winding parts and the delta-connected winding parts are set at almost the same space factor. If the induction machine has four or more poles, the magnetomotive forces are balanced to one another by alternate connection. Therefore, the induction machine can be run in extended-side delta-connection in succession to delta-connection without altering the dimenions of the machine and grooves.
