Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an expanded character inexpensively by expanding longitudinal and lateral lines of a dot matrix, read out from the character generator of a dot- matrix type printer, several times and then by printing it twice with longitudinal lines divided into two groups.
CONSTITUTION: The dot patterns of basic print characters are stored in character generator 7. By the instruction of a microcomputer, longitudinal line N and lateral line M of a basic dot pattern are expanded several times by controller 4 and this expanded dot pattern is stored in direct memory access transfer memory circuit 8. Control part 4 sends a start instruction to space control part 6 to supply print control part 5 with timing signal T synchronizing with the movement of a carrier unit. By signal T, a DRQ signal is supplied to control part 4 the expanded pattern in memory circuit 8 is supplied via control part 5 to print head 9, which prints it out. Further, control part 4 controls carriage-return control part 11 to perform a carriage return of a shorter distance than the longitudinal length of a print wire, thereby printing it twice with longitudinal lines divided into two.
