PURPOSE:To get a ball end mill with high cutting performance, by brazing a main cutter tip with an arched edge to one side of the tool point. CONSTITUTION:The main cutter tip 4 has an edge 7, nearly a quarter circular arc in shape and having a right circular cone 6 formed by a virtual center line 5 with an angle of alpha against the axis line and also having a certain radius of curvature R. The starting point 8 of this edge 7 is located at around the axis line for cutting out a spherical surface. A concave ship pocket 12 is formed on the rake face. A jack cutter tip 15 is formed in a spiral groove 13 on the side of the tool 1 and its external edge 14 is extended beyond the cutting edge 7 in the axial direction, so that the machine can provide deep cutting and grooving.
