Abstract

PURPOSE:A semipermeable membrane capable of selectively permeating components of liquid mixture is provided by crosslinking a polymer essentially consisting of modified polyether amine obtinaed by reaction of polyether and polyamine. CONSTITUTION:A modified polyether amine is provided by reacting a polyether with a polyamine, the polyether being represented by the general formula I, where X is Cl, Br, or I, and i, j are molar ratios satisfying the relation i+j=1,0<i<=1,0<= j<=0.8, and the polyamine having two or more of primary or secondary amino groups, Such polyamine includes 4-aminopiperidine, 4-aminomethyl piperidine. The resultant modified polyether amine is crosslinked to porous supporting body to provide semipermeable membrane. Alternatively, the polymer may be coated on the supporting body to be crosslinked to only its surface.
