Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the temperature rise on a fluorescent scteen during operation and to avoid reduction in luminance due to damage on the fluorescent substance by jointly providing a heat-radiating tube on the substrate for the fluorescent substance.
CONSTITUTION: A high energy electron beam 9 emitted by an electron gun 10 scans over the fluorescent screen 7 to reproduce an image on the screen under the electromagnetic effect of a deflecting coil 11. The image light 12 is reflected on a concave mirror 8 consisting of a Schmidt mirror, penetrates a front glass 2 in the form of an enlarged projecting light 13 and focused on a screen. A heat radiating pipe system 11 consisting of a pipe, a wick and an operating liquid is connected to a substrate 5 for the fluorescent substance. If one end of the pipe is heated, the operating liquid sealed in the pipe evaporates absorbing the heat of vaporization and the vapour moves through the center of the pipe to the other end of the pipe where the vapour is liquefied radiating heat, thus preventing the temperature of the screen from rising.
